Currently a freelance multimedia reporter and producer based in Chicago, Illinois, Mackenzie got her start as a photojournalist at her college newspaper before entering the world of public radio at WBEZ, Chicago's NPR station. There, she produced and reported stories for the podcast and program Curious City, where she developed her skills in engagement journalism and feature-length storytelling. Her reporting most often centers around the environment, community institutions, and shifting cultural traditions. Outside of Chicago, she's also practiced music journalism and radio storytelling in Reykjavík, Iceland, where she reported on cultural customs and the country's sustainability initiatives.
Mackenzie's work has been featured on WBEZ, NPR, and broadcasted on All Things Considered. She's continuing to explore how journalists can share underreported voices and stories while engaging communities directly in the world of storytelling.
